Losing punctuation or capitalisation for design purposes is fine.

As long as you are consistent.

Each line in a poem usually ends with some form of punctuation. This may include a comma, full stop, or a semi-colon (if you’re feeling brave). Some Instagram poets choose to leave these out to improve the look of their posts. There is no problem with this, but if you do it once, you have to make sure that you do it everywhere.

If you choose not to start each line with a capital letter, check each line to ensure that you’re sticking to this rule. Also look out for rogue punctuation marks at the end of lines. Remember, it only looks like you’ve made a mistake if there are inconsistencies. If you’re breaking conventions, make it look like you’re doing it on purpose.
